I really like two main aspects: one, how much fun the
classes are, and two, how much cultural and linguistic variety the student body
represents.
OK, first of all,
what is fun about teaching ESL?
We laugh a lot in my classes. Many student evaluations say
about me: “The teacher is very funny.” I don’t think I am the funny one; I
think the students have a really good sense of humor and situations are
frequently created such that everyone laughs.

It is perfectly understandable that many of you may feel worried about the futureas we find ourselves in the roughest economicsituation since the Great Depression. As a matter of fact, some scholars callthis time The Great Recession. (Please ask your teacher to provide you withmore information on The Great Depression and/or look it up in the dictionaryor go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_great_depression.)I have a question for you: Have you experienced an economic recession before?

Happy new year! As we look forward to 2009, we once again think about ways to change ourselves for the better. That is what the staff of Zoni Voice has done. In addition to the features you regularly enjoy, there have been some changes that will improve the quality and usefulness of this paper.
Assignments are now part of many articles. We hope that they create a more interactive experience and encourage use of the Zoni Voice in the classroom.
Zoni Voice Online has also undergone some changes, with more pictures and more articles. Check it out at http://www.zoni.com/studentslife.
Also this year, you will start to find a Zoni Voice e-newsletter arriving in your inbox. It will include articles and pictures previously unseen in the print version, plus extra activities and exercises to challenge your English skills.
So how are you going to change this year? Let us know - at Zoni Voice Online, of course!
